Brisbane's sunshine is powerful, why let it go to waste? With a solar battery from Solar Battery Group, you can store the solar energy your home already produces and use it when it matters most…at night, during peak electricity pricing, or during blackouts.
We're proud to be Australia's largest solar battery installer, offering Brisbane homeowners trusted battery systems starting from just $2,880 installed for 5kWh batteries, with government rebates applied.
Read more below to discover our solar batteries on offer and how we can help reduce your future energy bills.

A new national battery rebate called the Cheaper Home Batteries Program is now being rolled out across the country. From July 1, 2025 there is now $2.3 billion dedicated to helping lower the cost of getting a solar battery installation cheaper for all Australians. This is around a 30% reduction on a solar battery.
The real total amount is subject to location (and the unit/system), as the rebate will be delivered via STCs through the small-scale renewable energy scheme. Brisbane is in Zone 3, and receives around ~5.2 kWh/m² per day. This means there's lots of sunshine to generate and store solar, and take advantage of some sizable upfront reductions.
Feed-in tariffs (the prices energy companies pay you for excess solar you send to the grid) has been going down for years, and the price of power in South East Queensland has been going up. So peak low-sunlight periods where there is more demand on the grid, can leave you still needing to pay more on your bill. Less for power, but more for theirs. It's frustrating, but it's also the reason why solar batteries have been on the radar by different sustainable organisations and the Federal Government, when it comes to improving energy prices, stability and sustainability for everyone. And it's why this is the new big push for 2025.
Now's a great time to take the dive if you have been waiting on the shorelines for the price for batteries to reduce for years.
However, it's not going to be here forever. It's capped to $2.3 billion, and the value of each rebate will decrease in amount each year, as Australia gets closer to the 2030 year deadline. So if you're interested, don't leave it on the side for too long.
We've vetted and collected a wide range of models to offer our customers home solar batteries in Brisbane with excellent performance life, retrofitting capabilities, scalability, energy monitoring, safety and stability for indoor and outdoor installations, along with some other amazing features.

Traditionally, retrofitting a new solar battery onto an existing solar pv system, would mean some extra costs involving extra infrastructure and wiring to support the new addition (such as buying and installing a new hybrid inverter)
Now, solar installers don't need to touch your current PV set up. Solar batteries that are AC coupled, all-in-one or have an in-built inverter allows these types of batteries to just be added on.
If you do already have a hybrid solar inverter installed, in case you ever wanted to expand into solar storage, you'll also have the option of a DC-coupled solar battery installation, which is usually cheaper.

Cobalt is a key material in many traditional lithium-ion batteries, but it comes with two major downsides: ethical sourcing issues and chemical instability.
Find My Fit
First, a large portion of the world's cobalt is mined under unsafe and exploitative conditions, especially in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These mines often rely on child labour and dangerous, unregulated work environments. By choosing a cobalt-free battery—like one with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO₄ or LFP) chemistry—you're opting for a battery that's more ethically sourced and socially responsible.

Second, from a safety standpoint, cobalt-based batteries like NMC can be more prone to overheating or catching fire if damaged, poorly made, or exposed to high temperatures. That's because cobalt increases a battery's energy density—but at the cost of thermal stability.
LFP batteries don't use cobalt at all. Instead, they rely on iron phosphate, which is more stable, less flammable, and more abundant. This makes them better suited to warm climates like Brisbane's, and more reliable over time.
In short: cobalt-free means safer, more sustainable, and more ethically produced. For these reasons, all the solar batteries we offer at Solar Battery Group are cobalt free.

Payback is the amount of time it takes to get back the same amount you spend on your investment, like a solar battery.
After the Federal rebate, the average payback period for a standard solar battery in Brisbane has dropped down from 8 - 10 years, to about 7-9 in most cases.

Choosing a solar battery isn't just about capacity or brand-it's about finding the right mix of features that suit your home, lifestyle, and Brisbane's unique conditions. Here are the key things to look out for when comparing your options:

The solar battery is considered installed once a certificate of compliance or equivalent is signed and produced.

Don't have an existing solar system?
Our solar installers also cover solar panel PV installations, and we offer great bundles available for solar systems with battery storage. You can use the new Federal rebate to shave off the cost of the solar battery, and the STC scheme to also get an upfront discount on your solar panels and inverter. Just ask us about both if you're interested.
You may also be eligible for an interest-free or low-interest free green loan through the Queensland State Government to further reduce the barrier of any upfront costs. So you can start knocking off thousands of your power bills faster.

Analysis by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water estimates that you could save up to $1,100 off your power bill every year, by installing a new solar battery on an existing solar PV system.

Installing a solar battery is a major step toward lowering your energy bills, but how you use that battery can make an even bigger difference. Here are some proven ways to stretch your solar savings further, reduce your grid reliance, and get more value from your system over time.
A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) lets you join a network of homes that share stored battery energy back to the grid during times of high demand. In return, you may receive credits, rebates, or special feed-in rates. However, keep in mind that joining a VPP can come with trade-offs. Your energy provider may control when and how much of your stored energy is discharged, which could affect your ability to use your battery exactly how you want—particularly during blackouts or high-usage periods at home. Still, for many households, the financial benefits can outweigh these limitations. It's worth comparing offers and reading the fine print before opting in.
Every solar battery supplied by Solar Battery Group comes with a built-in smart energy monitoring app, accessible via mobile or desktop. These apps give you real-time insights into your battery's charge level, your solar production, and how much electricity your household is using. You can easily track daily trends, pinpoint when your energy use is highest, and adjust habits accordingly.
Some apps even allow you to fine-tune your battery's behaviour—such as scheduling when to charge from the grid during off-peak times or setting preferences to prioritise solar charging. This level of visibility and control helps you make smarter energy decisions day to day. The more actively you monitor and manage your battery through the app, the more you can maximise savings and get the most out of your investment.
A Home Energy Management System (HEMS) works alongside your solar battery and smart appliances to coordinate when and how electricity is used throughout your home. For example, it can automatically run your dishwasher or washing machine when solar production is high, or optimise heating and cooling to avoid peak rates. HEMS solutions are especially useful if you have multiple energy-smart devices and want to streamline them into one easy-to-manage system. While not essential, this technology can significantly reduce energy waste and boost return on investment over time.
Your solar battery shines when your panels don't – literally. By drawing stored energy during the evening or on overcast days, you reduce your dependence on expensive grid electricity during peak demand hours. This is especially helpful in winter or during Brisbane's stormy months, when solar generation may dip but household consumption stays high. Make sure your system is configured to prioritise self-consumption before sending excess energy to the grid.
If your solar battery supports it, you may be able to top up your battery using off-peak grid electricity, typically late at night or early in the morning when demand (and pricing) is lowest. This strategy helps you minimise energy costs during cloudy days or times when your panels don't fully recharge your battery. However, to qualify for the Federal Solar Battery Rebate, your battery must still be connected to an active solar system. Even so, charging from the grid can be a smart supplement, allowing you to sidestep peak pricing and maintain stable supply.
Your energy storage is only as effective as the appliances it powers. By upgrading to high-efficiency models—especially for heating, cooling, laundry, and refrigeration—you reduce overall consumption, which means your battery lasts longer between charges. Over time, this improves your energy independence and extends the lifespan of your battery system. Look for appliances with high energy star ratings, and when possible, run them during peak solar hours to maximise direct use.
