Yes, a correctly designed solar battery system can power many household air conditioners. The important questions are how much power the air conditioner needs, how long it will operate and what other appliances are running at the same time.
Battery capacity versus power output
Capacity, measured in kWh, affects how long stored energy may last. Power output, measured in kW, affects whether the battery can meet the instantaneous demand.
An air conditioner may draw more power when starting and then settle into a changing operating load. A battery needs sufficient output for that demand and enough usable energy for the desired runtime.
Split systems and ducted systems
A small, efficient split system will generally place less demand on a battery than a large ducted unit serving an entire home. However, equipment ratings and real operating conditions vary.
The system designer should review the air conditioner's electrical requirements instead of relying only on labels such as "split" or "ducted".
Total household demand matters
The battery does not power the air conditioner in isolation. At the same time, the household may be running:

Compare complete installed outcomes, not isolated hardware prices. A useful quotation should identify the proposed battery and inverter, usable storage, output, backup scope, switchboard work, monitoring, installation inclusions, warranties and assumptions.
Two quotes can name batteries with similar capacity while delivering different results. One may include backup hardware and substantial electrical work; another may not. If exclusions are unclear, the cheaper headline figure can be misleading. Ask who is responsible for design, installation, commissioning and after-sales support — battery performance depends on the complete system, so accountability should not be fragmented.
A practical decision framework
Start with the outcome, then work backwards to the equipment. A household that wants to keep cooling running through a prolonged outage may need a different design from one focused mainly on evening self-consumption. A customer planning an EV or an all-electric renovation should also avoid sizing a system only around today's bill.
Next, separate essential requirements from preferences. Essential requirements might include a backed-up air-conditioning circuit, a particular continuous output or a hard installation-space constraint. Preferences may include a familiar brand, a particular app or the ability to expand later.
Finally, test the proposed system against realistic conditions. Ask what happens on a hot summer evening with the air conditioner and several appliances running together, and when the battery begins the evening partly charged. The answers expose the difference between a technically compatible product and a properly designed household energy system.
